Landscape Design That Works in Qatar’s Climate

Heat, wind, salinity and limited fresh water shape every good landscape in Qatar. Our designs start from those constraints, not from a catalogue of plants.

  • Water-wise planting. Plants are grouped by water need and served by zoned automatic irrigation, so water is used where it counts.
  • Hardy plant selection. We specify heat- and salt-tolerant trees, palms, shrubs and groundcovers, grown in our nursery until they are ready for site conditions.
  • Better soil from day one. Soil preparation and, where needed, soil conditioner improve water retention and root growth, especially in sandy ground.
  • Planned maintenance. A realistic maintenance plan is part of the design, so the landscape looks as good in year five as it does on handover day.

Which lawns, trees and plants grow best in Qatar’s climate?

Heat, salinity and limited water favour warm-season turf grasses such as Bermuda grass and paspalum, and hardy trees, palms and shrubs. We select species to suit each site’s sun, soil and water source, and we grow plants in our own nursery so they are acclimatised before planting.

When is the best time to plant a lawn in Qatar?

Warm-season lawns establish fastest in spring and early autumn, when soil temperatures are right, although with proper irrigation planting can be carried out across much of the year. We will advise on the best timing for your site.

Can you transplant mature trees and palms?

Yes. We have transplanted mature plants on major projects including Qatar Rail’s Golden Line, the Orbital Highway and Truck Route (P023) and the IDRIS Main Trunk Sewer works, so that existing trees survive new construction.

Do you provide landscape maintenance contracts?

Yes. We maintain gardens, parks, school grounds and facility landscapes under annual agreements, including work for the Ministry of Education, Qatar Petroleum, the Qatar Museum Authority and the Primary Health Care Corporation.
